Digital Freebies - From KJD

Happy Valentine's Day!

Traditional Products for Hybrid Scrappers - From CHA

Just back from CHA...we've been giving you our thoughts on traditional scrapbook supplies on our Scrapbook For You blog...now let's talk Hybrid trends:

Specifically, we want to look at new traditional products that will rock the hybrid world.

The coolest products we saw for hybrid scrapbookers are plastic and acetate shapes (overlays).  You may be thinking, "Overlays are old, not new." 

Here's our take:  larger (such as 12x12 or 4x6) acetate overlays have been used and are not new...but what we noticed at CHA was that a lot more companies are printing designs onto smaller overlays, to be cut out and adhered to projects...this has BIG potential and will compliment digital layouts.   Heidi Swapp calls them  "Ghost Shapes" and she is selling them in lots of different sizes (pic on left).

These acetate overlays can be painted, glitter-ized, flocked or foiled...like rub-ons, we think these shapes will enhance your digital layouts perfectly!

In this same vein, we liked the various thin plastic shapes we saw, especially from Prima Marketing, Inc.  Prima calls these embellishments "Clearly Fun Shapes"  They show up in the catalog as black shapes, but they are actually clear little plastic shapes...and they come with pre-cut holes, so you can use brads, thread, ribbon or anything else you might want, to adhere them to your pages.  Hybrid Scrapbookers will love to use them to highlight a special part of their pages and add texture to their designs.

In honor of Valentine's Day, which is only two weeks away, Cara B has created a couple of new love-themed digital kits. 

Our first introduction is the kit called Pile Weave...named for it's plush, soft look.  It's perfect for black and white photos.

Introduction to Our Newest Designer - Cara B

Meet our first digital designer and her newest kit -- Cara B. 

Cara is a longtime crafter, "I have been creating special cards and gifts for my family and friends for over 40 years, selling my pieces since 1981.  I like to create lively, fun designs, matching to the person's unique personality."

And lively is the perfect way to describe her new kits called - Citrus.

I've created this layout using the citrus pack and pictures of my son when he was a baby.  The layout is called "Serious About Play".

Here is what Cara says about the pack:

"Let me tell you about citrus pack. I love the color, smell, feel, and taste of citrus fruits. Lately they have been the hot new colors. And no wonder! Oranges, limes, and lemons are year round favorites! Oranges were an old-time favorite gift in the winter of "yon." Nowadays we drink orange juice year round. Lemons and limes evoke memories of past good times, and lemons and limes enhance our meals. Thus, I wanted to create a fun pack with all this in mind.
